Jo Southcombe -- Retail Therapy
"Every season in Retail Therapy is different. I study fashion trends, attend fashion shows and spend a lot of time in other high street shops in the UK and Europe. A successful buyer cannot rely upon his or her own personal taste. I see so many people who open up lovely little boutiques, but make the fatal mistake of buying for their own taste and their success is short-lived because they are catering for a narrow market. Unfortunately, we are not all size 8 and six foot tall.
Retail Therapy caters for real women of all shapes and sizes and my buying reflects this. From this, I put together styles and ranges of designer labels, which I know the customers in the West Country will buy and enjoy.
My five shops have now been trading well over ten years and I have built up a unique business and relationships with my suppliers, thus being able to pass on the vastly discounted merchandise to my customers."
